1. Spending too much time with someone who's not really interested. You need to attract people who are already interested in your business. It's not your job to convince people that this is the right thing for them. Give people the basic information and then step back and let them decide. You can contact more people if you keep it brief. If someone can decide they are not interested after speaking to you, you've said too much!

2. Making the opportunity sound too good to be true. People are bombarded with scams and get-rich-quick schemes. If you have a legitimate business opportunity, you need to be realistic about the amount of money invested/earned and the time-frame people can expect before success when joining your team. If you attract people who want to make $1000's the first month, and then they don't, guess what!? They're gonna quit.

3. Failing to use your upline support and the training that is available. Your upline obviously has had some success with building his/her team. Why not talk to them about their method of success, get some tips, and the all important ENCOURAGEMENT! Many network marketing businesses have a wealth of training available. Take advantage of that free support. You can also read books and search online for ways to be successful in your network marketing business. The basis of network marketing is duplication, but there are many ways to duplicate! Go explore!

4. Building your business slowly. This can be a slow, painful and expensive way to kill your business. Most successful network marketers have built their businesses quickly, usually in the first or second month. If you can start off with a bang, building your team quickly and moving up the ladder as fast as possible, you give yourself a better opportunity to also start making profits quickly! Your best bet for success is building a big team. Quickly.

5. Recruiting people who need quick cash. These people are not going to get what they need by joining a network marketing business. They do not have any funds available to invest and they can't wait 3 months to start making money. You want leaders. Entrepreneurs. Self-starters. These are the type of people who will build successful businesses and be an asset to your team. You want to be the dumbest person on your team! Attract success!
