Are you concerned with Multi-Level Marketing Fraud? Well, I am and this is the reason I have written this book. Many folks when talking to a multi-level marketing recruiter at a so-called business meeting often leave the meetings with more questions than answers. This is because of the tactics they use when trying to recruit and sell them on the concept.
If you are in Multi-Level Marketing you will be very upset with my opinions and views and even my letters to the Federal Trade Commission on this subject. I would ask you to read thru this article anyway and work to clean up the industry and prevent fraudulent marketing practices and misrepresentations in your down-line. Failure to self-police will only invite Government Intervention and more rule-making on Multi-Level Marketing.
In this article I would like to talk about and discuss cults, religions, schizophrenia, human psychology, psycho-cybernetics and exactly what these Multi-Level Marketing Companies are doing out there. Now, I do not go so far as to accuse all Multi-Level Marketing Companies or their associates, as I understand the power of the business model and in theory it all makes sense. Indeed, there are somewhere between 2-3% of Multi-Level Marketers who are really doing nicely and working hard to empower their down-line.
Having been in the Franchising Business for over a decade, personally I have a problem with Multi-Level Marketing borrowing terminology and using the modern franchise model as an example of potential success for new down-line to entice them into the Multi-Level Scheme. In this book I do not go heavy on the “Pyramid Scheme” condemnation, because although there are significant issues with fraud in the Multi-Level Marketing sector, I do not believe it is completely fair to call them all Pyramid Schemes.
I thank you for reading this article, as this is my one of my first on the subject after observing Multi-Level Marketing for some 32 years. This will not be my last article on this subject as I have so much material collected over the years. It is for this reason that I would appreciate any consideration, time and thought you might give to this topic. Perhaps this article is of interest to propel thought in 2007?
