8 Out of 10 MLMers Fail Within 5 Years - Here's How to Fix It

· Did you know 8 out of 10 businesses fail within the first 5 years

· Did you know 8 out of 10 people who join an MLM fail within 5 years -- never even making back the initial amount they paid for startup?

· Did you know 9 out of 10 people who start a franchise SUCCEED within 5 years!

In MLM -- of the 8 people who fail -- only ONE (1) is lazy!

The rest are simply misunderstood.

Everyone knows the "problem" lies within the 8 themselves for failing (due to the contrast of others succeeding) but the reality is, the "solution" is NOT with them, they can't fix it on their own…but you can, you can fix it for them.

Your group is going to be unique, and despite the parent organization saying they have a "system" and advising you "not to duplicate the wheel", the truth is...the system is NOT WORKING.

This is because it's incomplete.

Now if you are one who believes the parent company has done everything right, and if someone doesn't make it in your business, they are just un-teachable -- STOP -- do not even bother to read the rest, as you will simply dismiss what is being said. Why waste your time? Go sell something instead.

I am not interested in arguing or going against your belief your parent company has some Holy Grail of MLM and everyone else is just stupid for not being able to get it right.

However, if you have a sneaky suspicion, that something more could be done to help people who are "inactive", then please, keep reading, you will like what you hear.

The truth is the systems created by the parent corporations are biased, skewed and just plain unfair.

Let me explain. The majority of systems people present to me for help with, have great products, that do what they claim, and have even better compensation plans.

They have sales tools and suggestions for getting business.

But they are all skewed towards the "extroverts" of our society. And in all reality, the real grunt workers and often foundation of small businesses are the introverts.

PERSONALITY TYPES

Approximately 20% of the US population's personality types are go getters, "natural" leaders, strong Type "A" Personality Types. These are the "born" leaders, CEOs, VPs, Donald Trumps and Bill Gates of the world. We will call them LIONS.

Approximately 8% are outgoing sanguine, life of the party super-extroverts. These are the class clowns, the "natural" networkers, creative types, general talk-a-holics, and talk-to-anybody-and-become-friends types of the world. We will call them OTTERS.

The other 72% fall into the two groups with either a heart to organize or a heart to serve. We will call them GOLDEN RETRIEVERS and BEAVERS. These are your managers, your accountants, your waitresses, assistants, receptionists, your quiet types.

Now, of the 4 basic personality types, these latter two are considered INTROVERTS. And although most people are a combination of all the personality types, generally everyone has one that is most dominant. I personally have 2 strongly dominant ones, and they fall in the former category (more on this some other time). I encourage you to take a test and see what your type is - but I digress.

The introverts are great workers: timely, loyal, well-organized - but they need -- no REQUIRE a STRUCTURE.

I bet in your program, like many, one of the keys is to "turn strangers into friends". Meet new people. This is an important and well established strategy. But how exactly does one do this? Whether it's passing out CDs, or going to a networking meeting it all starts the same... by talking, right?

so...

If you tell a Lion to go talk to someone - the lion will either - delegate the task to someone else, or just boldly strut over and talk to an individual from a position of authority, advising them with whom they speak and what the purpose of the conversation is. The conversation won't be much "fun", but will get straight to the point.

If you tell an Otter to go talk to someone, they will run over with a big grin, as if they have known the person for years, begin talking and within 5 minutes will be laughing and joking with the person. So much so, the other person may wish the otter would just shut up. Oddly enough, the stranger will find the otter very attractive (from a personality perspective) and persuasive.

BUT If you tell the Golden Retriever and/or Beaver to talk to someone...they will get that "deer in the headlights look" and ask you "Well, what should I say?"

DUH!! You think...try starting with "Hi!"

The GR/B says OK! Goes to the stranger nervously, palms sweaty, looking around and manages to stutter out the word "hi". The person responds back "hello". Then they anxiously look back at you bewildered with a "now what do I do/say?" face.

So you might be thinking -- well that's just it --I always knew it --MLM can only work for extroverts- I need "driven" people.

WRONG!

Think about a telemarketing company....MAJORITY of their workers are introverts. Think about it, when was the last time a telemarketer called you and sounded like a "fun" person? I know they are usually pretty stiff sounding to me.

So, how can direct sales work with a person who is not "driven" by their personality type?

Here is how it works:

They are given a SCRIPT of EXACTLY WHAT TO SAY! And then - they are given REBUTTALS of exactly what to say to every possible objection a prospect may have.

Now, because they are given a structure to work in, they thrive. If you send them out with no structure, they panic. It's not a bad thing. God made them that way on purpose, because we need them in society. They keep things together, tidy and organized. Otherwise everyone's desk would be a mess and no one would ever be on time for anything.

What are scripts/rebuttals? Nothing more than what I call "SUBsystems". Subsystems make up Master Systems. Your parent company gives you a MASTER system, you have to add subsystems.

Here is a script you already know:

"Hi, welcome To McDonalds...would you like to try our new chicken combo meal?"

(take customers order using order entry subsystem)

"Would you like an apple pie with that?"

Simple, yet effective script...works too!

Master systems are made up of a bunch of subsystems. There is a shake system, a fry system, a payroll system at McDonald's. Very rarely do you see a Mickey D's close down within the 1st 5 years of opening.

SYSTEMS

Master systems are the reason why 9 out of 10 FRANCHISES SUCCEED!

In a Franchise:

· With a truly Proven Franchise Operating System the System runs the business, NOT people.

· The people simply run the System.

· The Franchisee learns the Total System.

· Employees ONLY learn their roles in the System.

· The franchisor through the franchise agreement ensures that franchise owner will operate the business in strict conformity with the operating procedures.

· Once and ONLY after the franchisor is satisfied that the franchise owner has learned to manage the business, they are given the keys to their own business. Thus the name Turnkey Business.

Can you say that about your business? You might call it turnkey, but how many people succeed after joining. If not 80% to all, then it's missing some key ingredients.

I can tell you - I have YET to see a NWM company have such a master system "out of the box" and not developed by a group within the organization.

Some companies even discuss "personality types", but still don't do anything to help the introverts. Instead relying on numbers, knowing eventually enough lions and otters will join to create business volume.

I guess they just don't "get it". That's the funny thing about personality types. We think everyone thinks like us, and when they don't we don't understand why!

Lions do not see why everyone is so afraid to do things, and take charge.

Otters can not understand why others are not as "sociable" as they are.

Beaver's want to know why everyone can't be on time and keep organized.

Many Upline leaders say things like:

"Why can't they just join a networking group? I did?"

"Why can't they just do what I did?"

The reason is…because they are NOT YOU!

If that hurts your ego...sorry, to break it to you, but it is real life.

Despite what others tell you, you CANNOT FOLLOW IN DONALD TRUMP'S FOOTSTEPS -- unless of course you have a dad and the resources like he had.

Don't ask people who are not like you, who do not have what you have, to do what you did/do.

And don't you try to follow someone whose resources you don't have.

You can pull from the experience of others. You can even follow a similar path. And ask others to do the same.

But you can't accurately duplicate a person's path, without all things being equal.

STATISTICS SHOW

8 out of 10 Americans rate DEATH and GOING TO THE DENTIST as a PREFERRED activity to talking in front of a group of ANY size.

So if 72% of people's personality types cause them to feel they would rather DIE than go talk to a stranger....why on earth would you attempt to push that?

Why not simply develop a system that makes it so they DON'T HAVE TO!

Stop trying to get "people" to run their business, give them a system to run it for them, and you can then simply plug people into the system.

Again, I know this is all the things your organization tells you they HAVE DEVELOPED ALREADY

And you might actually believe you have a system that people can follow. No need to "reinvent the wheel", right?

TRUTH

The evidence is in your very own group...how many are active, and how many are inactive?

When you sign people up, do any drop out, and how long after?

Are 80-90% of new recruits STAYING in your group? And STAYING ACTIVE? And MAKING money?

If not, you need to add to the system. You can say your system is great and works -- but if it doesn't work for everyone…it doesn't work.

Franchises work for everyone -- from owners to employees, consistently.

What about in your upline -- I bet it's the same numbers.

Now I am sure you are going to bring up that "one group" that's in all the newsletters and wins the awards.

Let's talk about that "one" group you always hear about.

I bet its full of Lions (leaders and influential people like celebrities, sports stars, doctors) and Otters (natural networkers). And if you looked at the REAL numbers, they have just as many recruits inactive and drop out. Due to volume of the group, they stand out, because so many are doing well...but HOW many does it take to fail, before you get to those type of numbers of success.

So yes, even that one super group, needs to add to the system.

Your subsystems should work in COMPLIMENT with the company's system and:

Your subsystems should TRAIN PEOPLE TO BE LEADERS - not followers
Your subsystems should GENERATE UNLIMITED LEADS
Your subsystems should INCREASE YOUR CUSTOMER BASE
Your subsystems should GET MORE DISTRIBUTORS
Your subsystems should INCREASE GROUP COMMUNICATION
Your subsystems should OVERCOME PERSONALITY TYPES
Your subsystems should FOCUS YOUR MARKETING SO ITS WIIFM- CENTRIC

The MINUTE you have a successful master system - 7 out of the 8 "inactive" or "failing" or "unteachable" members of your group - will suddenly become producers.

IF YOUR GROUP DOES NOT PUT 8/9 out of 10 PEOPLE who join your group IN PROFIT WITHIN 90 DAYS -- THE SYSTEM IS FAILING ITS PEOPLE!

DO NOT blame people who have worked a job all their lives for not knowing how to run a home based business.

Would you fault a 1st grader for not understanding algebra? Or how to drive?

Then don't heap burdens on people who SHOULD NOT HAVE A CLUE on how to be successful in a home based business with no training.

Now you know. You are responsible for what you do next.

HELP THEM! Develop a system for your team, not now - but right now!

If you care about the success of others (and you have to, to be in MLM) then get to it.

There are a couple other issues that make it difficult for many to succeed, but if you address this primary issue, you will be on ahead of every other group, in every other program.

Be EMPOWERED and EMPOWER others.
