I wanted to comment a little more on the question "what is wrong with network marketing." There has been some pretty good dialogue about this in various forums in the past. I posted on it a few days ago in my network marketing blog and have been thinking about this even more lately.
The phrase network marketing really does not bring up very many negative thoughts. It is when you add the word mlm or multi level marketing that people familar with it get negative. If you say "check out my "mlm network marketing business" or my mlm business you increase your chances of having someone get mad at you, or reject you before they even understand what you are talking about. There is something about mlm that gets people all riled up.
So what is the solution to this?
How about dropping the word mlm from your vocabulary. People that have been in an mlm business in the 1970's, 80's or even the 90's are not your best target market for new distributors because many of them have already tried and failed in more than one mlm business in the past. They are already soured on multi level marketing and probably view it as a pyramid scheme that took all of their time and money. Mlost of them did not put in much effort and were probably convinced to join at an opportunity meeting thinking they could get rich without much effort.
The internet is bringing us a whole new market of people in their 20's and early 30's who do not know what network marketing is. This market can make you a very profitable business if you find the right network marketing company to build a business with and you forget about the past.
Eliminate any talk about mlm, or multi level marketing, and keep the focus on a worldwide internet marketing business that happens to be distributed via the network marketing business model. Develop this attitude in your downline and keep everyone focused on moving forward because you can not change the past anyway.
