So you made the decision. You saw the business plan. You tried out some of the products. You’ve seen the rewards that are available. You’re ready to get started. Now what?
Step One: Make sure you have a tangible goal. Why are you even going to build this business in the first place? Make sure you can answer this question. Try to come up with some specific goals or specific amounts of money or income that you would like to earn. Remember that you cannot hit a target that you don’t even have. Write this goal down on paper. For example, I want to be earning $1000 per month in my network marketing business in the next 90 days would be a good goal and very attainable for people in most companies.
Step Two: Get in touch with the largest most successful business owner or distributor in your upline that you can reach and have them set up a game plan with you. Tell them your goals so they can help you devise an action plan that will get you where you want to be. Also, if their plan is different from what I have suggested below, always follow the advice of your upline. They have a vested interest in your success whereas I do not, though I wish you the best.
If, however, you don’t have an available upline, the following steps should work well in any type of network marketing business.
Step Three: Make sure you buy the product. If it is a product that you can use and benefit from you need to be your first customer. You will be a much more effective sales generator if you can get behind your product from personal experience. If you company offers any kind of automatic delivery you should be on this system as well. Remember, that all the people you eventually bring in to your business will look to you as a model.
Step Four: Build a list of all the people you know. Most people are able to come up with a list of 200 to 500 people. Do not restrict yourself to the people you know well. Include anyone you went to school with, worked with, or know in any way. Next find out contact information for everyone on your list.
Step Five: Call everyone one on this list and just ask them one question. Say that you are working with a group of business owners that are wanting to expand in their area. You are looking for some sharp and ambitious people to work with as partners and that you thought of them and just wanted to see if they keep their options open for creating some additional income. Ninety percent of people will say yes. Then they will start to ask questions. Don’t answer them! Say that it is much more efficient if you sit down together over a cup of coffee and sketch out the details in person. Set the appointment and you're done.
If you do this for 100 people on your list you will be amazed at how quick your business will start to grow. Don’t get discouraged if people say no. You only need a few to say yes and you will be well on the road to financial freedom.
